What is the difference between 2× AI and 4× AI?
2× doubles both dimensions. A 1280 × 960 image becomes 2560 × 1920. 4× quadruples both dimensions, so the same image becomes 5120 × 3840.
What does Make 4K do?
Make 4K sets the longest edge to 3840 pixels while preserving the image's original aspect ratio. A 4:3 landscape image becomes 3840 × 2880.
Does Scale My Image crop or stretch my picture?
No. The output dimensions are calculated from the original aspect ratio, so the image is not intentionally cropped or stretched.
Which file types are supported?
The current free tool accepts JPG, PNG and WebP images up to 10 MB.
Is there a watermark?
No. Downloads from the current free tool do not add a Scale My Image watermark.
Do I need an account?
No account is required for the current free 2×, 4× and 4K modes.
Are my images stored?
Scale My Image does not write the upload or result to its own R2 bucket, application database or account library in the current free workflow. Images are processed using Cloudflare infrastructure.
Why can a mode be unavailable?
Free outputs are currently limited to 32 megapixels and 12,000 pixels on either dimension. The site disables a mode when the calculated output would exceed those limits.
What will 8K Pro do?
The planned 8K Pro mode will target a 7680-pixel long edge while preserving aspect ratio, with higher output limits and larger uploads. It is not enabled yet.
