TARGET

2×, 4× or 4K — what’s the difference?

2× and 4× are enlargement multipliers. 4K is a target resolution.

2× AI

Doubles both the width and height. Best for a moderate enlargement and usually the safest first choice.

Example: 1280 × 960 → 2560 × 1920
4× AI

Multiplies both width and height by four. Use it when you genuinely need a much larger image.

Example: 1280 × 960 → 5120 × 3840
Make 4K

Sets the image’s longest edge to 3840 pixels and keeps the original shape. It is not the same thing as 4×.

Example: 1280 × 960 → 3840 × 2880
Quick rule: choose for a normal enlargement, for the largest free multiplier, and Make 4K when you specifically want a 4K-class image.

SIMPLE BY DESIGN

Three useful enlargement choices.

See the target size before processing, keep the original aspect ratio and download the result without a watermark.

2× AI

Doubles width and height. Good when you need a moderate enlargement without creating an unnecessarily huge file.

4× AI

Quadruples width and height for the largest free enlargement, subject to the current 32 MP output limit.

Make 4K

Targets a 3840-pixel long edge and calculates the other dimension automatically from your image's aspect ratio.

PRICING

Simple image upscaling options.

Pricing is intentionally simple. The available 2×, 4× and Make 4K modes are free to use.

QUESTIONS

Useful things to know before you upscale.

Will the image be cropped?

No. Scale My Image calculates target dimensions from the original aspect ratio.

Does 4× mean four times the file size?

No. 4× refers to width and height. File size depends on image content, format and compression.

Can AI restore missing detail perfectly?

No. AI can make enlargement look cleaner, but it cannot guarantee recovery of detail that was never present in the source.
